Gardens are for pleasure.
Its as simple as that. What you get out of your garden depends entirely on what is put into it. You should be able to escape into the garden, not out of it.
When I design a garden, I approach it from a variety of angles. Firstly, and most importantly, I design the garden with the end users' needs and tastes as the prime considerations. The resulting creation must fall within the confines of the available space and budget.
Having defined the limits I will begin to discover the personality of the clients and tailor the planning of the garden accordingly. The setting and the architectural style of the house have to be respected and special attention has to be paid to existing features and neighbouring properties. All these factors will have an influence on the development of the landscape.
Visual impact, although important, is only one part of a good garden design. Smell, texture, sound and even taste can all be factored into a garden which provides an experience of total immersion.
A good garden will offer a relaxing environment, a place to dream, a place to play and somewhere to entertain.
With my rampant creativity & imagination, combined with a practical building mind, I can offer the best of both artistic and practicable approaches without compromise.
One designer, one builder and no middleman.
